Last spring I traveled to Japan with one of my brothers and my two boys to spend time with another brother and his family. We spent a few days in Tokyo and one of the (many) highlights was a trip to the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. The globe pictured above is the Geo-Cosmos exhibit, made up of over 10,000 LED panels displaying weather and day/night cycles.
There was a lot to see. One of the big hits with the kids were a couple of projector walls; you could color in a vehicle or animal (depending on which wall) and scan it in. the resulting artwork would appear on the wall and interact with other objects. Even though I understand the basics of how the program mapped the 2D scan on top of the 3D model and moved things around, was still impressive in action.
