February we went to Hollywood, Florida. North of Miami, it is a quirky little strip on the coast.
While there we went to the nearby Anne Kolb Nature Center, Gulfstream Park to see some horse racing, and a number of other attractions, including an air boat tour of the Everglades.
If you want to see creatures (gators, crocodiles, etc.) you're much better off going to Gatorland in Orlando.
if you want to see the Everglades up close, you should take the air boat tour, once. Once, because it is a bit of a tourist trap. And unless it's full summer, bring hoodies, with the wind, shade and spray it can get a little chilly.

The one thing that annoyed me was after spending $30/person, you get a personal plea for tips from the captain as they approach the dock. On the one hand it probably encourages the captains to banter and provide more local color during the trip, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. I'd rather they task on another $5/ticket. Still, an experience to be had.
One other recommendation if you travel to Hollywood: don't fly into Miami. I was late getting my tickets, so all the flights to Hollywood were booked.
