Last year I found Odigo.jp and suggested it to a coworker, who raved about it. I decided to try it out and plan our time in each city (Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto & Tokyo). It’s very helpful, providing lots of suggestions and allows users to add custom locations. I played around with my days in Tokyo: moving destinations from one day to another or putting everything on the same day to spot clusters. Overall a great tool, however being an engineer, naturally I have suggestions: Add a “shuffle” that let’s Odigo shuffle all the destinations to find the most efficient route; You can set the hotel, pinning your start and end locations. If Odigo adds route optimization, they might also want to be able to pin one or more locations by time if you have reservations for a specific time at an attraction or restaurant.
If you have too many destinations, you can always save them of to your wishlist for another trip (except for Custom Spots).
As you add destinations, you can play around with the order and the mode of transportation (less than 0.5 km it chooses walking, otherwise defaults to train). Sometimes it’s worth toggling, since walking can end up quicker than getting to/from one of the stations on the route.
A Custom Spot is a destination that isn’t in Odigo’s database. You’re limited on entering a name, address and uploading a picture. PLEASE give me an option for a web site and a URL for for the picture. To be fair, you can add notes after the fact, but not when you create the Custom Spot. As already mentioned, you can’t save custom Spots to your wishlist.
